Yellin Center reports include the comprehensive findings of our assessment team and a learning plan. Our clinicians develop this strategy plan based on their understanding of a student's neurodevelopmental profile. We collaborate with students, parents and schools to develop a practical action plan for the home and the classroom, where applicable, that will help the student become a more productive learner.
Most learning plans include each of the following kinds of recommendations:
Bypass Strategies (Accommodations) - Bypass strategies help the student learn how to work around a weakness, so that he or she can experience greater success.
Interventions at the Breakdown Points - Interventions involve learners in activities specifically designed to strengthen an area of weakness.
Strengthening of Strengths - These are strategies that allow students to keep using and improving the parts of their minds that work especially well for them.
Affinity Development - This is a process intended to help students discover and deepen their natural interest in particular topics. |
In addition to these kinds of strategies, other provisions of a learning plan might include recommendations regarding tutoring, support programs, counseling, medication and more.
