How The Yellin Center Is Continuing to Serve Patients and Their Families During the COVID-19 Pandemic
Throughout the COVID-19 crisis, The Yellin Center has been serving our patients and their families through telemedicine – using remote technology to provide consultations, follow-up, and medication management – and we continue to do so. Once we were able to reopen our offices in June 2020, we made significant modifications to our spacious suite and to our procedures to allow us to conduct our core evaluations in person. The services to be provided to each patient will be determined on a case-by-case basis, depending upon each student’s needs, travel requirements, and the need for safety of our patients and our staff. We will continue to use telemedicine wherever possible to minimize in-person contact for our patients and our staff.
We welcome those who are interested in arranging appointments to contact our office. Our staff will help to determine whether your family will be best served by a telemedicine or in-person appointment. We are taking numerous steps to keep our patients and staff safe when in our offices. These include:
As the medical situation evolves and guidance and mandates from the CDC, New York City, and New York State change, the steps we take to keep our patients, their families, and our staff safe will undoubtedly change as well. Please reach out to us with any questions or concerns you may have at any time.

We are taking numerous steps to keep our patients and staff safe when in our offices. These include:
- Our HVAC system has been updated with MERV-13 filters throughout the office and our assessment rooms, family rooms, and medical exam room now have portable HEPA filters.
- All patients and other visitors to the office are screened for fever and other COVID-19 symptoms by Dr. Yellin — a medical doctor — and his staff when they arrive at our office each day. Most of our staff has been fully vaccinated and all are screened daily for any health issues and have been instructed to stay at home if they are experiencing any health issues or have been directly exposed to COVID-19.
- Masks are required for staff and visitors (note that our building requires masks to enter the lobby).
- We work with only one student at a time.
- Patients may be accompanied by one or two parents only; absolutely no siblings or other individuals are permitted.
- We take advantage of our spacious office suite to allow for social distancing whenever possible during in-person assessments.
- Families complete a COVID-19 screening checklist before any in-person appointment.
